Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The traitor then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the team reach places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Fans can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
